The first member of the family to show up in Port Charles was Hamilton Finn, an infectious-disease specialist whose expertise was needed to treat Tracy Quartermaine. And thank heavens he was as brilliant as advertised!

Two years later, softhearted hardbody Harrison Chase joined the Port Charles Police Department. He was eager to catch up with his estranged older sibling, but alas, Finn “copped” an attitude anytime Chase came around — at first.

Chase wasn’t really to blame for Finn’s attitude. He just resented the fact that after mom Jean Nichols’ passing, dad Gregory Chase moved on faster than seemed appropriate with another woman. Not just any other woman, either!

Gregory’s second wife — Chase’s mother, reporter Jackie Templeton — also had a fling with Finn. In fact, she couldn’t be altogether sure whether Gregory or Finn was Chase’s father. (To everyone’s relief, the detective got to keep calling his dad Dad.)

Finn was set to marry police commissioner Anna Devane — until he learned on their wedding day that she’d confided in future lover Valentin Cassadine rather than her present lover that Peter August wasn’t her son after all.

Though Finn’s romance with sometime schemer Hayden Barnes didn’t stand the test of time — how could it, really, with Nikolas Cassadine manipulating his old flame? — it did leave the doctor with the cutest souvenir in recorded history.

When Hayden was scared outta town — and where the heck is she these days, anyway? — she left in Finn’s care their daughter, Violet.

A long series of false starts almost ended Finn’s relationship with General Hospital colleague Elizabeth Webber before it had really even begun. Not only is she Hayden’s half sister, but it turned out that she accidentally killed her beau’s first wife.

Liz didn’t mean to keep her involvement in the demise of Reiko Finn a secret. It was just that the nurse’s parents had “helped” to ensure that she wasn’t haunted for the rest of her life by that traumatic incident from her past.

In 2024, Chase pledged to love, honor and cherish Brook Lynn Quartermaine. And, it goes without saying, to do his damnedest to stay on the good side of her granny, Tracy!
